Day 1 Sofia  

16:40h. - Arrival and meeting at Sofia Airport. Transfer to hotel 4 stars.

Accommodation in 4 stars hotel. Overnight. 

 

Day 2 Sofia - Rila Monastery – Melnik 260km.

Breakfast.

Rila Monastery /UNESCO monument/ - whole day tour with lunch.

It was founded in the l0th century by the Bulgarian monk St. Ivan of Rila and was rebuilt in the l3th -l4th century. From that time are  the fortress tower (1334), the bishop's throne, richly carved doors and some  manuscripts, icon-paintings and church plates. In the l5th century, when Bulgaria fell to the Ottoman Turks, the monastery was abandoned for a short time but in the second half of the same century it was restored to a new life. 

Leaving for Melnik – the smoller tonw in Bulgaria, famouse with the wonderful wines and beatiful houses.

Accommodation in 3 stars good hotel in the Melnik.

Day 3 Melnik – Trigrad – Devin         150km.

Breakfast.

We continue to the great Rhodopite mountants and visit a small village of  Trigrad. After a delicious lunch in a small typical restaurant we will pass through the gorge of Trigrad and go in the Devil Throat cave. 

Lodging in SPA hotel DEVIN**** in town of Devin. Dinner in restaurant of the hotel and overnight. 


Day 4 Devin – Shiroka laka - Bachkovo Monastery – Plovdiv   100 km.

Breakfast. Today we will visit at first secondary school for national music in village of Shiroka Laka. 

We continue to Bachkovski Monastery – the second large and important Monstery in Bulgaria. The murals, old icons, the manuscripts and incunabular turned Bachkovo Monastery into one of the richest galleries of old Bulgarian art.

After a delicious lunch in a small restaurant near Bachkovo we leave for Plovdid - the second biggest city in Bulgaria. We have a walk city tour in old part of Plovdiv. 

It is declared an architectural museum reserve with over 150 monuments of culture - houses from the National Revival period. Its magnificent houses are turned into museums, galleries, workshops, restaurants, and pubs. There are also parlours and studios of painters and wood-carvers. Families from Plovdiv own many of those houses. The most distinguished examples of the Baroque of Plovdiv are the house of Koiumjioglu (now an ethnographical museum), the house of Georgiadi (now the Rennaissance museum of the national struggle), the house of Nedkovich (the municipality), the house of Chomaka (the gallery of the renowned Bulgarian painter Zlatyo Boyajiev), the house of Balabanov (now a gallery of modern painting, as well as a concert hall). UNESCO awarded Plovdiv a gold medal for architecture in 1979.

Day 5 Plovdiv – Kazanlak 100km.

Breakfast. 

Departure for the rose valley – Kazanlak. Arrival in the town and visit of the Rose museum - the only one of its kind in the country and Thracian tomb /UNESCO/.

Accomodation 3* Deluxe hotel PALACE.

Lunch.

Afternoon we visit the Tomb of Seft II – the King of the Thraciancs.

Dinner. Overnight. 


Day 6 Kazanlak – Nessebar                   200 km.

Breakfast.

Departure for Nessebar. Nessebar – town – museum /UNESCO/. 

Walk in old part of town. 

Accommodation in hotel Italy *** in Nessebar. 

Overnight.


 

Day 7 Nessebar

Free time for beach and relax. 


Day 8             Nesebar – Varna                            90 km.

Departure for Varna

Accommodation in 4 stars hotel AQUA*** in Varna. 

Varna city tour - Varna is Bulgaria´s Sea Capital. The city is clean and green. Of the green miracles at least three are a must: the Marine Gardens which are the largest in the Balkans; Euxinograd park, the former Royal Palace; the paradise of St.Constantine. Archaeological Museum that holds one of the country´s richest collections. A special treasury displays priceless gold jewels and amazing ancient toreutic works. The icon and church plate exposition is very impressive. The National Revival Museum has a rich collection. The Ethnographic Museum has exhibits showing traditional means of livelihood and costumes with vatying demographic features. The Naval Museum is in the shady alleys of the Marine Gardens. The Museum of the Histhory of Medicine in in what used to be the city´s first hospital and possesses the richest paleoanthropologic collection in Bulgaria. Bulgaria´s only Aquarium with unique facade covered in ivy attracts many visitors.

Day 9 Varna – Balchik – Kaliakra - Varna 130km.

Breakfast.

Leaving for town of Balchik. Visiting of King court and botanic garden. Continue for Kaliakra horn. Visiting the castel of Kaliakra horn and museum. 

Lunch in good restaurant on the coast of the sea with wonderfull view. 

Return in Varna.  Overnight.


Day 10 Varna - Veliko Tarnovo           210 km.

Breakfast.

Departure for V. Tarnovo. Visiting Madara horseman /UNESCO/ - antiant Bulgarian monument. 

Lunch. 

City tour in  Veliko Tarnovo - The Archeological reserve Tsarevets Hill and its restored fortified wall; Baldwin’s tower, in which the Latin Emperor Baldwin has been locked up after his capture by Tsar Kaloyan in the defeat of the crusaders in 1205 near by Odrin; The Palace of the Bulgarian kings, which is a separate fortress that spreads on an area of 4872 square meters, the Throne hall and the palace church St. Petka; The second big architectural complex of Tsarevets – the Bulgarian patriarchate; The Forty Holly Martyrs church. Accommodation in 4 strars hotel CONCORD in city center.

Day 11                  V. Tarnovo – Sofia                                 240km.

Bearfast. Departure for Sofia – the capital of Bulgaria. 

Accommodation in hotel Sveta Sofia – 4 stars. Lunch in restaurant.

Afternoon - Half day long city in the main center. Sofia - capital of contemporary Bulgaria, fifth capital of the country in the course of its 1300 years history, comfortable huddled in the foot of the proud Vitosha Mountain. The town was established in the Vth Century BC as a Thracian settlement with the name Serdika. The Slavonic people called the town Sredez. And later it received its present name from the ancient Roman church "St. Sofia" which could still be seen nowadays. 

During the tour you’ll visit the cathedral and memorial church of “St. Alexander Nevsky” with the crypt – icons gallery, The remains of the Roman city with Rotunda, transformed into church and another impressive buildings - The National Theatre “Ivan Vazov”, Russian church, The Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridsky”, etc

Overnight.

Day 12                  Sofia

Breakfast. Sofia city tour – Walking. 3 hours. 

Free time for shopping. 

Dinner and Overnight.
